The farm Malaspiniane Terre, recently formed (2008), is currently composed of three bodies corporate, for a total of about 7 hectares, fully planted with olive trees. The soils are all conducted in rent.
The first body corporate is about 4 hectares in the municipality of Montignoso in the north of Versilia. The olive trees in the process of restructuring is part of an ancient estate once owned by descendants of an ancient and noble family of Milan, made up of plants made homeless in the early years of last century. Are present throughout over 1100 plants. The varieties are the mill, and the Leccino pendolino, about 400 trees are Quercetani, variety grown only in the northern part of Versilia and currently included in the traditional varieties of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The second body is the land located in the Municipality of Caniparola Fosdinovo and is about 2 hectares. There are about 400 olive trees Leccino varieties, Frantoio and Pendolino. The land falls within a farm belonging to one of the historic district.
The third body corporate is constituted by an olive grove of approximately 0.8 hectares located in Pieve a Elici, locality falling in the territory of the municipality of Massarosa, in the province of Lucca. The olive trees taken from the first rent in January 2009 was abandoned for years and require substantial interventions to restore. Are present, among the submerged vegetation, shrub weed, about 350 olive trees that require pruning of reform and in some cases lowering the canopy.
The company is still looking for other groves in the park of the 5 lands and near Portovenere in places where the objectives and landscape dell'olivo take the utmost importance.
Terre Malaspiniane, since its establishment has set as its fundamental objective of the policy research, for their productions of the highest quality possible.
In 2008, Olive's first campaign, have been gathered about 85 of ql and olives were produced three types of oils, extra virgin olive oil:
- The mocultivar Quercetano
- Pilastri
- Malaspino
Starting with healthy olives collected daily has been working on the same day paying attention to the stage of maturity for each variety. Every day gathering ended at around 16, the olives are subjected to crushing in the worst case, within four hours after the end of harvesting operations. The pulp was processed in Gramola for a maximum of 25-30 minutes at a maximum temperature of 26 ° C. Nothing has been left to chance.
Corporate objective is the economic value of the products obtained through the research of high performance in terms of qualitative characterization.
We believe that only with the exaltation of the quality of products we can put products on the market that allows the reward of all the inputs used during the production phase. In the absence of this in the coming years, these areas will assist the gradual disappearance of production and consequently to a significant transformation of the area with negative consequences also on the landscape features for the loss of key elements that characterize the local landscape. Are many olive groves that are abandoned each year and intended to become wood for the operational difficulties and high costs of production.
In this sense TERRE MALSPINIANE feels invested with the role as guardian of the territory to safeguard its environmental and landscape characteristics.
